Golden Age Audio was founded in 2005 operating in the field of high-end studio equipment. We saw first-hand how the industry was changing and required more versatile solutions. Creating music was no longer confined to merely a few big studios, but had changed to something that could be done from basically anywhere. This major shift created a greater demand for high quality studio equipment that is within reach of pro and amature studio engineers alike. Understanding this, we designed and began selling replicas of the classic RCA 77 microphone at a consumer friendly price point without sacrificing build or performance quality.

The Golden Age Audio team was encouraged by the user reaction to its early products. In 2006 Golden Age saw itself projected onto the world stage with the release of the first version of the PRE-73 mic preamp. Not long after its release, the distinctive red outboard suddenly started appearing in major and amature studios around the world.

Sound On Sound magazine praised the PRE-73 saying “given the very affordable price of the Pre 73, its performance is astonishingly good, as is its build quality”.

Our winning PRE-73 concept blended modern ingenuity with innovative functionality to create a unique product. Our team not only enhanced the superb warm and musical characteristics of the classic design, but were also able to engineer a product which offered excellent performance while meeting a more affordable price than the original.

Over the following years the GAP family of products has grown and our present-day collection now extends to condenser and dynamic microphones, outboard gear, and accessories. Despite all of our international success, we are proud to still be a small family-run business based in Sweden.
