A 4-band EQ unit based on the eq section in the classical 1081

US Price: $419

The EQ-81 mkIII is a classic 1081-style 4-band equalizer. This classic EQ circuit has been heard on countless lauded recordings through the years for good reason—its warm, musical character imparts recordings with a distinctly organic vibe that can’t be had from digital tools. Its versatile tone colorations work very well on most sound sources and in any genre.

The EQ-81 mkIII’s frequency options offer a wide selection of frequencies from 33 Hz to 15 kHz; the stepped controls allow for easy matching when used in stereo pairs. The Bass and Treble bands are switchable between shelving and bell modes; the Mid frequency is a fixed bell with a switchable High Q.

EQ-81 mkIII can be used as a standalone EQ or connected to the insert jack of any preamp. Additionally, it is designed to mount right alongside other Golden Age Audio preamps using the Unite Rack Kit to create a single 19-inch 1081-style channel strip!
